Job Description
Orthopedic Surgeon seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join his practice.
This is a perfect opportunity for an experienced MA looking to work part time.
Candidates with Electronic Medical Records experience are highly desired. Duties will consist of both clinical and administrative duties, to include Reception in order to assure smooth flow of operations. Working hours will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday 20-24 hours/week. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
Medical Assisting Responsibilities
- Setup patients in the exam rooms
- Obtain patient’s accurate history and vitals.
- Casting applications and cast removals.
- Input history and vitals into electronic medical records system.
- For post-op patients, prepare as necessary by removing dressings and performing suture removal.
- Prepare sterile fluid for cortisone injections.
- Provide patient education with post-op incision care and cast care.
- Maintain clean laundry and sterile instruments.
- Fit patients with braces and complete proper documentation to assure proper reimbursement.
- At times the MA will fill in and work as a front desk receptionist, scheduling patients on the practice management system, checking in and checking out patients.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Experience in pre-authorization and surgery/procedure scheduling preferred in order to cross train with other staff
- Phone Triage, returning calls timely
- Understanding of government and non-governmental insurance plans.
- Call in prescriptions as required
- File charts and X-Rays as needed.
- The candidate should have basic knowledge of anatomy and medical terms
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, ICD-9/10, CPT. Excellent written and oral communication skills, organization skills, spelling and computer skills.
The perfect candidate will be energetic, flexible, cooperative, and compassionate and must enjoy working in a fast paced, team environment. Proper Judgment and planning are required when educating patients on wound care guidance and when determining if a patient should have their cast changed. Also importantly, being courteous to patients and paying attention to details.
Some external contact will be made to MRI facilities, hospitals, primary care physicians and other specialist’s offices. There are physical demands such as assisting patients if needed to get on the exam tables and filing patient charts and x-rays. The working conditions and physical area also include bio-hazards, blood borne pathogens, sharps and x-ray equipment.

Full Time X Ray Technologist
Busy orthopedic surgical practice has an opening for a Full Time X-Ray Technologist. Qualified candidates will be licensed in the state of Connecticut with certification. In addition, the incumbent must have prior experience with Medical Assisting procedures such as suture removal, cast removal and application. Consideration will only be given to individuals with these credentials.
Hours for the position are 5 days per week, 40 hours per/week. Must have the ability to work later than scheduled depending on patient flow and emergency add-ons. If you are energetic, have the desire to succeed and make a difference and thrive in a fast paced environment with prior knowledge of orthopedics and medical office procedures, we’d love to talk to you. Must have the ability to produce high quality diagnostic radio-graphs and perform clinical responsibilities to satisfy the needs of the practice physician. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Biller performs complete and accurate billing & collections to assure policies, guidelines and protocols are being adhered to while obtaining optimum efficiencies in a cost-effective manner. Establishes priorities and consistently meets required deadlines. Striving for complete accuracy, obtains maximum reimbursement for all billable services in order to provide optimal customer satisfaction to all clients and patients.
Communicates effectively with patients, physicians’ offices, hospital personnel and all IPMS staff to build and maintain positive business relationships.
Cross-trained to perform all billing and collections functions to assure that team is fully staffed at all times. Works collectively with all members of the team as well as all IPMS employees to ensure production goals are consistently being met.
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of job-related experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare setting. Although preferred, we are willing to train the candidate whose skills match the minimum knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position. Additionally, we work closely with educational institutions and welcome Graduates of a medical billing program with some knowledge of managed care, commercial and federal agencies or basic understanding of general medical terminology as well as CPT and ICD9/10 codes
Technical experience required, including proficiency with internet based research and windows based billing and Microsoft applications.
