Northeast Providers: Recovery Audit Requests from Performant Recovery, Inc.
Northeast providers may receive requests from the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC), Performant Recovery, Inc., for medical records and supporting documentation as part of a Medicare claims review process.
Providers are reminded that medical reviews may be conducted by multiple Medicare review entities, including the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), Supplemental Medical Review Contractor (SMRC), Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs), Unified Program Integrity Contractors (UPICs), and other authorized contractors.
When responding to an Additional Documentation Request (ADR), providers should submit records directly to the contractor identified in the request notice. For ADRs issued by Performant Recovery, Inc., documentation must be sent to the address specified in the request.
Submitting records to the appropriate contractor helps reduce processing delays and supports timely review and determination of Medicare claims.
