Have you seen recent unnecessary Medicare Part B adjustments?
Medicare released a statement this week, notifying providers of unnecessary adjustments applied to Part B claims. The issue started during the 7/26/24 cycle. Per Medicare, a recent transition process at the Medicare Part B system maintainer resulted in unnecessary and inappropriate Part B claim adjustments, impacting all Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) nationwide.
National Government Services (NGS) is notifying Part B providers that the problem has been fully identified and research is in progress to stop any further unnecessary adjustments from being created.
No action is required by providers at this time. If any claim adjustments include overpayment assessments, providers are advised to refer to their demand letters for next steps. Medicare requests that providers refrain from taking action to resubmit these claims and to continue to monitor Medicare announcements for ongoing updates.
