Medicare Sequestration Increase July 1st

Medicare Sequestration Increase July 1st

Effective starting with July 1st dates of service, providers will begin to see an increased Sequestration reduction on Medicare payments. In December 2021, legislation was passed to stop proposed Medicare payment cuts from going into effect in 2022.  This law includes a schedule to phase in the 2% Medicare Sequestration that had been put on hold during the COVID pandemic.

    • A partial, 1% sequestration was implemented April 1, 2022, through June 2022
    • The full 2% sequestration will be implemented July 1, 2022, and will remain until the sequestration system expires in 2031.
