United Healthcare Announcement to Beneficiaries

On February 19th, United Healthcare (UHC) sent a letter to UHC beneficiaries stating, UHC is “currently in negotiations with Hartford Healthcare (HHC) in an effort to renew [their] relationship while providing fair and competitive reimbursement.  UHC goes on to say that they are fully committed to productive, good-faith negotiations and are focused on renewing the contract so that beneficiaries have continued access to care without disruption.

Hartford Healthcare has a frequently asked questions webpage regarding contract negotiations with UHC. HHC states that they are working on reaching an agreement so UHC members will continue to receive in-network care with HHC.

HHC explains, “United is offering [their] hospitals and physicians rates that simply do not cover [their] cost increases and will impact [their] future operations.” Further information from HHC regarding UHC negotiations go to the FAQ webpage .

If United Healthcare and Hartford Healthcare are unable to reach an agreement, Hartford Healthcare providers and facilities may no longer be part of the UHC network as of April 1, 2025.

Hospitals that would be leaving the network are listed below:

  • Hospital of Central Connecticut
  • Midstate Medical Center
  • St. Vincent’s Medical Center
  • Hartford Hospital
  • Charlotte-Hungerford Hospital
  • William Backus Hospital
  • Windham Community Memorial Hospital
